LEARN MORE

For decades, surfers, snowboarders, and adrenaline seekers have been dreaming of new ways to explore outdoors when there are no waves or snow. As the industry has grown and more efficient materials have been developed, there's not only one electric skateboard perfect for every single rider. That is why Evolve has designed a range of electric skateboards to satisfy all riding styles.

When we first designed two electric longboard models in 2010, the industry was very small. Fast forward to today, you can find every type of electric skateboard that you can imagine. From the daily commuter to the weekend warrior, our mission is to develop the best electric skateboards in the world so every rider can find their dream board, perfect for their riding style and needs.

We've seen the sport grow from a simple evolution of riding a regular skateboard to a common commuting alternative, and it's also just used as a new (and fun!) hobby. Even if you've never been on a regular skateboard, an e-skate is easy to learn, intuitive, and set to be a hot personal mobility device increasing in popularity in the USA.

Come into our Evolve USA store in Carlsbad, San Diego, and try an electric skateboard if you're unsure which electric board is right for you. If you're in another state, you can use our Store Locator tool to find an Evolve Dealer next to you.

Are you looking for a fast dispatch option? Order online through the USA, and if you don't fall in love with it, you can send it back (see our return policy for more info).

What Is An Electric Skateboard?

An electric skateboard is a skateboard that uses an electric motor to propel the rider. Electric skateboards are typically more powerful than traditional skateboards and can reach speeds of up to 31mph.
Electric skateboards are powered by rechargeable batteries and typically have a range of 10-40 miles. Most electric skateboards also come with a remote control, which can be used to adjust the speed and braking of the board.

Electric skateboards are becoming increasingly popular as they offer a fun and convenient way to travel. They are also relatively easy to ride and require no special skills or training.

How Does An Electric Skateboard Work?

An electric skateboard consists of four main parts - the deck, the battery, the motor, and the controller.
The deck is the main platform of the skateboard where the rider stands. The battery is typically located underneath the deck and provides power to the motor. The motor is located in the front or rear wheels and propels the skateboard forward. The controller is used to control the speed and braking of the board.
Electric skateboards are powered by rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged using a standard household outlet. Most electric skateboards have a range of 10-40 miles on a single charge
Evolve electric skateboards typically have 4 riding modes - safe, eco, fast and customized. The Safe mode is perfect for beginners as it has slow acceleration. The Eco mode allows you to cruise with 75% of the top speed of your board. The Fast mode will give you a fast acceleration and it's when you can reach the top speed, perfect for hill climbing. Finally, the Custom mode, as the name suggests, allows you to customize the acceleration and braking points.

How to choose the right electric skateboard for your needs?

- Consider your skill level, the terrain you will be riding on, your weight and height, your budget, and the range and speed of the skateboard.
- Look for features such as battery capacity, motor power, deck material, and wheel size.
- Read reviews and ask for recommendations from other riders.

How To Ride An Electric Skateboard?

When you first get your electric skateboard, practice accelerating and braking a few times so you can understand the acceleration and braking point to the board to make the riding experience a bit easier.

Stand on the e-skateboard, and as you're about to accelerate, have your weight centered over the front knee. This will allow the body to keep up with the skateboard as you accelerate.

When you're about to apply the breaks, have your weight centered over the back leg. This will allow you to slow down safely without flying forward off the skateboard.

Keep your eyes up and look where you want to go. If you look at a tree, that's where you're going to end up. If you keep your eyes up and look through your turns, you're going to have a sweet carving experience.

How Long Does It Take To Learn To Skateboard?

Learning to ride an electric skateboard is way easier than riding a normal board. Because you don't need to kick push, it's more intuitive to find your balance. After a few hours of practising it, you'll pick up the basics.

How To Stand On A Skateboard

If this is your first time riding a skateboard, stand on it to determine if you feel more comfortable in the regular or goofy stance. Regular stance means you put your left foot at the front of the board, goofy means your right foot goes ahead. Don’t mind the names - neither is better than the other, it's just about what feels natural for you.

How To Place Your Feet On A Skateboard

As we've mentioned, there are two main ways to place your feet on a skateboard - regular and goofy.

Once you've decided which stance you want to use, it's time to position your feet. For a regular stance, your left foot should be placed at the front of the board with your toes hanging over the edge. For a goofy stance, your right foot should be placed at the front of the board.

Your back foot should be placed in the middle of the board with your heel hanging off the edge. This is known as the "heel-side" or "hanging ten" position.

How To Steer A Skateboard

To steer a skateboard you need to lean in the direction you want to go. This is how the board turns. The amount that you lean will determine how sharp the turn is. The more you lean, the sharper the turn will be.

You can also use your feet to help steer the board. For example, if you want to make a sharp turn, you can put your weight on your front foot and use your back foot to push off the ground.

How To Stop A Skateboard

There are two main ways to stop a skateboard - with your feet or with your remote. To stop with your feet, simply step off the board and onto the ground. Electric skateboards tend to move at quite a clip, so you’re much better off using your remote. To stop with your remote, squeeze the brake trigger with your finger. This will make the brakes engage and stop the board.

How To Grip A Skateboard

There is no better way to completely change the look of your board than treating yourself to some brand new grip tape. To get your new grip looking and lasting its best, you need to make sure the installation process is correct. These instructions will best suit any of our Bamboo boards.

Using a drill, disassemble the board and put the electronics aside somewhere safe and dry. Remove the old grip tape from the deck, and use a utility knife to help if necessary. Sand down the board to give yourself a smooth surface to work on, and remove any stubborn spots with grease remover and a scraper.

Peel the backing off your new grip tape and line it up with your fresh deck. Stick it down, working from the centre towards the edges to prevent any bubbling. Use the sheet the grip tape came with to help you push down, so you don’t scrape your hands.

Cut your new grip tape to size by first slicing the corners diagonally, so you can fold it around the board. Now rub the spanner along all the edges to score the grip tape - that will make slicing the shape out with your utility knife heaps easier.

Sand down the edges, and poke holes from the bottom of the board where all the screws will go. File out those holes so they’re nice and smooth, then reassemble your board in the reverse order that you disassembled it.

How To Clean A Skateboard

If you regularly clean and maintain your electric longboard, it will last a long time and ride at its best. When it comes to cleaning your skateboard deck, you have a couple of options.

The first is to use a specific product for cleaning skateboard grip tape. It works like an eraser, you rub it in a single direction across the grip, and it lifts out all the dirt and grime and pretty much brings your board back looking like new.

The second option is to use a pressure washer. You'll need to remove all the electrics and the running gear from the board, leaving just a bare deck. Then at about a 30-centimeter distance, you can spray down the board as you would clean anything with it. You can use the same process for the carbon electric skateboards, but instead, you can actually remove the case completely. That way, you can leave all your electrics in your deck. You can spray down the case, removing all the dirt and grime from the grip tape.

How Long Does A Skateboard Last?

This really depends on how often you ride and how well you look after your skateboard. An electric skateboard will last you a lot longer than a traditional board, but it's still important to take care of it.

The best way to make sure your skateboard lasts a long time is to regularly clean and maintain it. This includes cleaning the deck, trucks, wheels, and bearings. You should also regularly inspect your board for any damage and replace worn parts as necessary. With proper care, an electric skateboard can last for years.
